Week 2

For the second week I wanted to give some suggested and easy workouts and stretching tips. You need to take care of your body. That means to get proper exercise. Everyone is supposed to get thirty minutes to an hour of exercise a day. I know sometimes that seems like a lot, but if you take it a little bit at a time it becomes easier. As you are doing your daily activities this week I want you to multitask. If you need to go somewhere not too far away, walk or run. When you are working on homework, stretch. Sitting in the straddles is an easy and effective way to refresh your muscles by stretching. While you read you could try doing some ab workouts. A good example of this would be doing a plank for as long as possible. Look at the picture for an example. There is a perfect reading position. Also, If you were to wake up ten minutes earlier and spend five minutes less on your hair or shower you could have fifteen minutes of exercise time. One last thing for this week, remember to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. You will feel more rested that way than going to bed late and waking up late. I hope that you have a great time doing this.

Week 1

For the first week I want to challenge everyone to eat out less. I don't know how often you eat out, but I think we could all do it a little less. Fast food places use meat that is run through processing lines at an especially fast rate of speed to maximize production and profit, although they are sacrificing food quality, employee safety, and public health. There are some good places out there to eat at, but over all it would be better to know what is in your food. Sometimes it is unavoidable, and you just have to grab something when you are out. If you find yourself caught in this situation, try for the most fruit and veggies filled, whole grain breads, and low-fat meals as possible. Something good to try might be Subway or grilled chicken wraps (with a low-fat sauce). If you want the most nutrition, try whole grain breads, fat-free dressings, and plenty of your optional veggies.

Introduction

I decided that I wanted to find simple ways to live healthier. This "Health Challenge" is full of ways that I thought would be easy for all teenagers to live a healthier lifestyle. About once a week I will update a new challenge/idea for living healthier. In my posts there might be tips on how to cook with less fattening ingredients, get the most out of a workout, etc. I hope that you will take up the Health Challenge, and that it will be beneficial to you.
